Christiaan P. Richter - Bio

Christiaan Petrus Richter is the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Carbon Iceland and is a co-Founder of Carbon Iceland. In addition, Christiaan Petrus Richter is a Professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Iceland’s Faculty of Industrial Engineering.

Christiaan earned his PhD in Chemical Engineering from Northeastern University in 2008, following master’s degrees in Applied Mathematics (2004) and Chemical Engineering (2001) from the University of Nebraska, and a BSc Honours in Mathematics (1998) and a BA in Education (1997) from the University of Pretoria.

Christiaan’s expertiese is in the field on chemical reaction engineering, particularly in kinetic modeling of pyrolysis processes and hydrogen generation from waste materials.

Also, Christiaan has for the most of his career focused on how to optimize production of renewable fuels in order to phase out fossil fuels. He has participated in many research projects that relate to this subject and therefore, Christiaan is has an excellent background, research background and experience to bring high value knowledge to the development of Carbon Iceland.

Recent publications include studies on kinetic modeling of plastic pyrolysis and hydrogen production through plasma treatment of waste aluminum. Christiaan’s ORCID profile is available at:
