Hal Oskarsson - Bio

Hal Oskarsson is a visionary entrepreneur with the goal of fighting climate change using emission-free technology that can rapidly phase out fossil fuels. He is the founder and Chairman of Carbon Iceland since its founding in 2020.

Hal has brought a strong vision to Carbon Iceland, allowing the company to create strategic partnerships with key industrial companies, bridging the gap between companies seeking sustainable fuels for hard-to-abate sectors, and those that generate emissions. Hal has consistently demonstrated an unparalleled ability to bring together experience, knowledge and power from many of the world‘s leading technical corporations, into an initiative, like Carbon Iceland, and to puzzle together that experience to form a company like Carbon Iceland that can change the tide when it comes to paving the way for a future without fossil fuels.

In 1967, Hal Oskarsson was born in Akureyri, a town in northern Iceland. He finished Menntaskólinn á Akureyri (Akureyri Junior College) before moving to Reykjavik, the captial of Iceland, to study engineering at the University of Iceland.

Before founding Carbon Iceland, Hal graduated from the University of Iceland as an industrial engineer and worked for over a decade in consulting with a focus on optimization, corporate expansion, increasing market share and market value.

Hal is a father of three and apart from work, Hal enjoys hiking, reading and has composed music since his early years.
